Malaria Prevention & Treatment Course
Case Study: Malaria Prevention & Treatment Course
Context: malaria in Cameroon results in a high rate of absenteeism from work and school and in the worst cases, death. Research shows that most of the population is aware of the cause of the disease and the effectiveness of bed nets but does not always use them. In addition they do not always seek treatment when ill or buy fake medications from street vendors. Access to community health workers has been found to be beneficial for disseminating information.
Training Solution: an e-learning which can be sent by text link from the ministry of health to individuals' phones or used in the training of community health workers. In the course a community health worker guides the learners through the dangers, illustrates the symptoms and ways to become healthy. The purpose of the course is is to reduce the incidence of malaria by changing risky behaviors among the general population to safer preventative behaviors.
